Position Summary:

The After School Program Coordinator at Children's Home of Jefferson is instrumental in managing the daily operations of after school program locations, ensuring a secure and nurturing atmosphere for both participants and staff. Reporting directly to the After School Programs Administrator, this role encompasses a variety of program management and leadership responsibilities. The Coordinator acts as a bridge between participants, families, and educational staff, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and coordinate all on-site programming, ensuring effective facilitation, implementation, and quality enhancement initiatives while maintaining a safe environment for all.
  2. Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
  3. Enforce all policies and procedures established by the organization and partner institutions to guarantee the safety of participants and staff.
  4. Address immediate concerns as they arise, utilizing the After School Programs Administrator for additional support when necessary.
  5. Assist in the recruitment and training of Group Leaders.
  6. Provide direct supervision and guidance to Group Leaders, including conducting performance evaluations, facilitating team meetings, and offering professional development opportunities.
  7. Coordinate training sessions and staffing schedules; ensure appropriate staff-to-participant ratios are met.
  8. Act as a liaison among participants, families, staff, and educational personnel; promptly resolve any concerns or issues from participants or families.
  9. Monitor participant and staff behavior, intervening as necessary to foster a positive environment.
  10. Lead by example, upholding program values and ensuring that all staff adhere to established standards.
  11. Collect and maintain data for reporting purposes, ensuring compliance with licensing and funding agency requirements, including participant demographics and program attendance.
  12. Encourage teamwork and collaboration among staff and participants to achieve shared objectives while managing conflicts and disciplinary matters with professionalism.
  13. Ensure the implementation of engaging and inclusive program activities that align with organizational goals.
  14. Represent the program at community events.
  15. Maintain the cleanliness and operational standards of program sites.
  16. Manage and monitor all program supplies and equipment.
  17. Ensure adequate staffing levels at all sites.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

This position involves occasional travel for recruitment events, local schools, and meetings. The work is primarily conducted in an office setting with a controlled climate, though there may be exposure to varying weather conditions depending on assignments.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Candidates must be capable of performing fine motor skills, speaking, reading, typing, listening, and concentrating for extended periods. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted is necessary, as is the capacity to sit for prolonged durations. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Position Type:

This is a part-time, hourly position with flexibility in hours based on program needs. The Coordinator must be present for programming during specified hours and may be authorized for remote work during school breaks or cancellations.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required, with two years of experience working with children, particularly at-risk youth, preferred. Supervisory experience in a similar setting is also preferred.

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong organizational and office skills are essential. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to identify individual needs, and demonstrate self-motivation in a dynamic environment. Effective oral and written communication skills are crucial, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Attention to detail and time management skills are necessary, as is the ability to adapt to change and handle various tasks as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

Successful completion of pre-employment requirements as mandated by relevant health and safety departments, including background checks and eligibility verification, is required. A valid driver's license is necessary. Training in corporate compliance, privacy security, and workplace conduct will be required following hire.
