Summary/Objective:
The Coordinator for Children's Home of Jefferson County's After School Programs is essential in managing the daily operations of after school program locations, ensuring a secure and nurturing atmosphere for both participants and staff. Reporting to the After School Programs Administrator, this role involves a variety of responsibilities related to program oversight and leadership. Acting as a bridge between participants, families, and educational staff, the Coordinator swiftly addresses any concerns or issues that arise. They are tasked with fostering a positive environment and maintaining program standards to encourage teamwork and collaboration among all involved.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and coordinate all on-site programming, ensuring effective implementation, quality enhancement initiatives, and evaluations while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for participants and staff.
  2. Accurately record daily attendance.
  3. Enforce all policies, practices, and procedures set forth by the organization and partner institutions to ensure the safety of participants and staff.
  4. Address immediate concerns as they arise, utilizing the After School Programs Administrator for additional support when necessary.
  5. Assist in the recruitment and training of Group Leaders.
  6. Provide direct supervision and oversight of Group Leaders, including performance evaluations, team meetings, feedback, and coordinated professional development opportunities.
  7. Coordinate training and staffing schedules; manage ratios as needed.
  8. Act as a liaison between participants, families, staff, and educational faculty; promptly address any participant or family concerns.
  9. Monitor participant and staff behavior, intervening as necessary to maintain a positive environment.
  10. Lead by example, upholding program values and expectations while ensuring all staff maintain program standards.
  11. Collect data for reporting requirements for licensing and funding agencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with privacy regulations.
  12. Encourage teamwork and collaboration among program staff and participants to achieve common objectives while addressing conflicts and disciplinary issues with professionalism and fairness.
  13. Ensure the implementation of program curriculum and activities; confirm that activities are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with program goals.
  14. Represent the programs at community events.
  15. Maintain the operation and cleanliness of program sites.
  16. Manage, inventory, and monitor all program equipment and supplies.
  17. Ensure adequate staffing at sites.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This position involves occasional travel to recruitment events, local schools, conferences, and meetings, with moderate travel within the community. The work is primarily conducted in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment, though occasional exposure to inclement weather may occur depending on assignments.

Physical Demands:
Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, bending, and stooping. The role requires performing fine motor skills, speaking, reading, and typing. Must be able to listen, recall information, and concentrate for extended periods. Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Required Education and Experience:
A minimum of a High School Diploma is required. Two years of experience working with children, particularly at-risk youth, is preferred. At least one year of supervisory experience in a similar program or childcare setting is preferred.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
Strong organizational and office skills are essential. Excellent interpersonal and engagement skills are necessary. The ability to understand and identify individual needs and physical capabilities of youth is crucial. Demonstrates self-motivation, the ability to operate in a high-pressure environment, and manage multiple operational tasks simultaneously. This role requires effective oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent time-management abilities. Must be able to work collaboratively with diverse populations and demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
