Senior Development Officer

The Senior Development Officer plays a critical role in advancing the fundraising efforts of Middlebury College. This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a pool of prospective donors with the capacity to make significant gifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a pool of Leadership Gifts prospects ($100K+)
  • Build and advance strong personal and professional relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of Middlebury
  • Work independently and creatively to match donor interests with institutional priorities
  • Prepare briefings, stewardship plans, and other correspondence for prospects
  • Solicit an annual gift for each prospect
  • Motivate and support volunteers for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship calls
  • Ensure timely capture and recording of data relating to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including closing gifts
  • Knowledge of institutional advancement and advanced fund-raising techniques, including planned giving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and relational databases
  • Strong writing and verbal skills
  • Ability to motivate and collaborate with staff and volunteers
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Significant travel required
