Catalog Librarian

Middlebury College seeks a highly skilled and experienced Catalog Librarian to join its team. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a hiring range of $63,009-$78,787 per year.

• Perform original and complex copy-cataloging of library materials in English and non-English languages, adhering to national and local standards.
• Develop and implement cataloging policies, addressing priorities and resolving complex problems associated with bibliographic, authority, item, and holding records.
• Review and enhance vendor-supplied MARC records for batch-loading into the library catalog.
• Supervise Senior Catalog Associate and provide training and guidance to library staff members.
• Provide statistics to library leadership and outside professional organizations as requested.
• Staff the Research Desk and teach Research and Information literacy skills in the classroom and one-on-one meetings.
• Develop web guides and other learning materials highlighting library resources and exhibiting universal design principles for accessibility.

• Graduate degree in library or information science from an accredited institution, or its equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years previous library experience, including experience with cataloging/metadata procedures, library catalogs, and library systems.
• Familiarity with national library cataloging/metadata standards, such as MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data and Resource Description and Access (RDA).
• Complex problem-solving and research skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge of one or more languages taught at Middlebury.
