JOB TITLE: Operations Manager

REPORTS TO: General Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employee Management:

  • Recruit, train, and retain high-performing staff across both union and non-union sectors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal standards.
  • Foster a positive relationship with union representatives.
  • Dedicate time to leadership development alongside operational management.

Equipment Oversight:

  • Supervise maintenance operations in collaboration with the Chief Engineer.
  • Ensure optimal equipment performance through regular preventive maintenance.
  • Address maintenance issues promptly to minimize operational downtime.
  • Oversee fleet management, ensuring all vehicles are properly maintained.

Service Management:

  • Maintain a strong awareness of customer needs within the service department.
  • Continuously monitor service outcomes and customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with customers to nurture relationships and resolve any service-related issues swiftly.
  • Ensure Route Drivers receive comprehensive training in processes and safety protocols.

Production Management:

  • Conduct daily reviews of departmental performance metrics.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to achieve production goals.
  • Manage inventory effectively and generate periodic reports as required.

Safety Leadership:

  • Actively promote safety initiatives and ensure all employees prioritize safety.
  • Conduct thorough safety training proactively.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Coordinator on safety and workers' compensation matters.

Financial Oversight:

  • Manage monthly profit and loss statements to meet financial objectives.
  • Analyze cost variances and provide explanations as needed.
  • Interpret financial results to recommend improvements to current practices.

Communication with Home Office:

  • Demonstrate self-sufficiency while being open to assistance from the Home Office.
  • Promote a collaborative relationship with home office management.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform any other duties as assigned or necessary.
  • Assist in various roles as needed to meet production demands or cover for absences.

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

  • Must seek approval for hiring or terminating direct reports.
  • Must seek approval for expenditures outside of regular spending guidelines.
  • May decide on day-to-day operations without prior approval.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role within a production environment, preferably in the linen industry.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills across all employee levels.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Strong analytical and financial management skills.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional demeanor and consistent approach.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Prior experience managing a route delivery team is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
