Position Overview

Dar Group is in search of a Senior Civil Engineer specializing in Aviation to oversee ongoing projects and to spearhead civil engineering design for specific assignments on a task order basis.

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth technical knowledge in the design of both airside and landside aviation projects, which includes airfield and roadway geometrics, paving, grading, drainage, and utility design.

This role encompasses a variety of engineering responsibilities, including planning, design, and scheduling of engineering tasks, executing advanced design work, organizing and developing design plans, and creating technical specifications and bid estimates.

Collaboration is key, as work is typically conducted in teams, requiring extensive coordination both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:
  • Formulate production work plans, timelines, and budgets. Assist the Design Manager in preparing scopes and budgets for new task orders or amendments.
  • Lead project teams focused on aviation airside and/or landside design, primarily utilizing AutoCAD and Civil 3D for plans production.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards throughout the engineering process.
  • Provide guidance and support to design staff on various projects.
  • Oversee the successful completion of projects under your leadership.
  • Analyze and correlate data, investigate code issues, assess applicable third-party agency requirements, explore design options, and document findings.
  • Conduct calculations and analyses using engineering principles.
  • Prepare roadway design plans, profiles, and geometric layouts.
  • Develop civil plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Create project phasing and scheduling plans.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Current licensure as a Professional Engineer in the relevant state or the ability to obtain such licensure.
  • 8+ years of civil engineering design experience, particularly in transportation and/or land development projects, with a preference for aviation project experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is essential.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience in cost estimation and project phasing and scheduling is advantageous.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; capable of working effectively in a team-oriented atmosphere while demonstrating analytical and organizational capabilities.
  • Familiarity with airport airside, landside, and/or infrastructure projects, as well as FAA and TSA regulations, and AIP funding requirements, is preferred.
