Job Overview

Oversee the comprehensive food safety and quality assurance functions within the organization, ensuring compliance with customer audits and managing quality personnel. Lead the quality documentation process and collaborate with quality departments and plant leadership to foster a safe work environment that produces top-tier products meeting customer expectations. Supervise the Food Safety Team and HACCP initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and develop the facility's QA teams to consistently meet and surpass both internal and external quality and food safety standards.
  • Effectively communicate and guide the facility through any changes in legislation.
  • Engage in customer work groups as necessary to maintain strong relationships.
  • Regularly review product specifications to ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer standards.
  • Update and enhance Crown Bakeries' quality and food safety programs, policies, and procedures to align with regulatory agencies, customer requirements, and GFSI standards.
  • Ensure the execution and compliance of quality and food safety programs through effective management of the facility's QA department.
  • Maintain quality records and data to facilitate efficient communication with plant leadership and customers.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer and regulatory audits at each facility to achieve excellent audit scores and compliance with all standards. Document and follow up on corrective actions with customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments, and the implementation of change controls and corrective actions, ensuring adherence to timelines and effective follow-up through various methods, including trending.
  • Provide regular quality updates to plant management and company leadership through reports, meetings, and presentations, offering a clear view of the company's quality performance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or Food Technology is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical and analytical problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and food quality testing and safety issues.
  • Experience working with FDA and other regulatory agencies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is based in a production office setting. The employee may encounter various facility elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets will be used regularly.
