Overview

The Texas General Land Office is dedicated to serving the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency achieves this by preserving history, maximizing state revenue through innovative management, and ensuring responsible stewardship of state lands and natural resources. This role is situated within our CDR-Compliance program area.

Auditor III Responsibilities:

- Conducts intricate (senior-level) auditing tasks for CDR Compliance.
- Prepares audit documentation and assignments to meet established objectives efficiently.
- Provides mentorship to colleagues.
- Operates under limited supervision, exercising significant initiative and independent judgment.

Auditor IV Responsibilities:

- Engages in advanced (senior-level) auditing tasks for CDRC Compliance.
- Ensures audits meet established objectives promptly in collaboration with CDRC management.
- Serves as the lead for audit projects as necessary.
- Functions with minimal supervision, utilizing considerable initiative and independent judgment.

Auditor V Responsibilities:

- Oversees and/or conducts highly advanced (senior-level) audit functions to guarantee timely completion of assignments.
- Acts as the project lead for audits.
- Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Qualifications:

- Graduation from an accredited four-year institution with a focus on auditing, accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience in auditing may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience in accounting or auditing is required.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% for on-site compliance monitoring reviews.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with TeamMate audit software and experience with federally-funded grant programs, particularly HUD-funded programs.

Skills and Abilities:

- Knowledge of accounting and auditing methodologies; generally accepted auditing standards and procedures.
- Ability to produce clear and concise audit reports and analyze relevant audit information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:

This position primarily involves sedentary office work, but mobility is necessary for various duties. The role requires extensive computer and communication tasks, along with the ability to manage records and documents weighing up to 20 pounds.
