Job Title: Travel Finance Specialist

Job Overview:

As a Travel Finance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing travel-related financial transactions and processes within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and process travel documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Payable Lead, serving as the Subject Matter Expert for travel finance inquiries.
  • Maintain comprehensive travel logs and records using Excel for efficient tracking and reporting.
  • Oversee the training log related to CAPPS chart fields to ensure staff compliance and understanding.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for Citibank accounts and weekly reviews of Enterprise Rent A Car statements.
  • Assist agency personnel with travel-related questions, providing effective solutions and guidance.
  • Deliver training sessions on travel finance processes as required.
  • Act as the administrator for agency travel cards, ensuring proper usage and compliance.
  • Utilize USAS/SIRS/CAPPS systems for data analysis, report generation, and correction of entries.
  • Participate in CAPPS User Group meetings, contributing to the enhancement of business processes.
  • Continuously develop and refine policies and procedures related to travel finance.
  • Serve as a general accounting resource, providing support across various accounting functions as needed.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education:

A high school diploma with supplementary college coursework in accounting is generally preferred.

Experience:

• Accountant II - At least one year of experience in travel finance or bookkeeping in a professional environment.

• Accountant III - A minimum of two years of experience in travel finance or bookkeeping in a professional environment.

Additional Requirements:

A valid driver's license must be provided within a specified timeframe upon hiring.

Preferred Qualifications:

• An associate's degree or relevant coursework in accounting is preferred.

• Experience in travel finance within a state agency is advantageous.

• Familiarity with the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) is preferred.

• Experience with CAPPS/PeopleSoft Financials is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and procedures related to accounting records and automated systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for creating and managing spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work accurately with numerical data.
  • Capable of analyzing, consolidating, and interpreting financial information.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Quick learner with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based, involving standard office activities. It may require occasional physical activities such as standing, walking, and lifting items up to 30 pounds.
