Role Overview:

The Custodian III position is essential for supporting the educational environment by providing comprehensive custodial services within an assigned elementary school. This role is pivotal in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include executing various specialized cleaning tasks, coordinating facility preparations for educational activities and events, overseeing contracted custodial staff, and ensuring all assignments are completed effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to gather necessary information for job performance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned facilities, including classrooms, offices, and restrooms, to ensure a sanitary and appealing environment.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff to plan and prioritize custodial tasks to meet maintenance goals.
  • Coordinate with contracted custodial services for facility preparations related to extracurricular and community events.
  • Deliver supplies and materials to appropriate locations within the site.
  • Inspect facilities to confirm they are safe, clean, and in good repair, identifying any necessary maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of custodial schedules, inventory, and event calendars.
  • Manage supplies and equipment to ensure availability for effective facility maintenance.
  • Monitor the safety of students and staff in work areas to prevent accidents.
  • Order necessary supplies and equipment to maintain custodial operations efficiently.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks to uphold a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Prepare the site for daily operations, ensuring all facilities are ready for use.
  • Document activities and prepare reports related to custodial functions.
  • Address inquiries from staff, students, and visitors to provide necessary information.
  • Respond to immediate safety concerns and operational issues effectively.
  • Schedule maintenance activities and manage contracted services personnel.
  • Support other maintenance staff in completing custodial tasks.
  • Assist with various campus projects to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Train assigned personnel on equipment handling and safety procedures.
  • Transport tools and supplies as needed for job functions.
Additional Duties:

Perform other related tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the custodial team.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Relevant job experience preferred.
Skills: Ability to operate cleaning equipment, perform basic maintenance tasks, and maintain accurate records. Knowledge of safety practices and industrial cleaning methods is essential.

Work Environment:

This role involves physical demands such as lifting, carrying, and moving objects, as well as exposure to varying temperatures and potential hazards. The job typically requires significant walking and some standing.
