Job Summary

The Controller and Financial Reporting Manager is a key leadership role within the Finance Department, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the controller team and business units assigned within, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, and maintaining the organization's financial health and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data and reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
  • Ensure financial reports comply with current accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Accounting Operations:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Controller team.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and the closing of accounting periods.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and internal controls.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying up-to-date with existing and new legislation; advising management on needed actions.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and assess any changes necessary.
  • Monitor and manage financial risk, including credit, liquidity, and operational risk.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a collaborative, productive work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support career development of team members.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Strategic Planning and Budgeting:
  • Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Develop financial and tax strategies to optimize the company's financial performance.
  • Oversee the financial planning and budgeting process, working with various departments to prepare budgets and monitor progress.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and other financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience
  • Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CMA or CPA certification.
