As a Sales Application Engineer at OTTO Engineering, you will play a crucial role in driving the growth and development of our North American Sales Team. This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and exceptional communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management: Support and initiate sales projects in North America, ensuring timely completion and meeting customer expectations.
- Customer Support: Provide assistance to Sales Managers, Major Accounts Manager, and distributors to achieve sales project objectives.
- Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with customers, representatives, and distributors through regular visits and communication.
- Resource Management: Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, manage direct and indirect resources, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Opportunity Identification: Monitor major assigned opportunities and provide assistance to capture business, working closely with the RSM.
- Technical Support: Communicate and work with customers' engineers for design-in support, conveying requirements to the Product team.
- Proposal Development: Develop, present, or respond to proposals for specific customer requirements, including request for proposal responses and industry-specific solutions.
- Technical Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve technical issues of assigned accounts to ensure complete customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
- Product Development: Collaborate with the internal Engineering team for product development, understanding the Phase Gate Process OTTO Utilizes.
- Market Feedback: Provide market feedback to management, including competitive position, new product opportunities, forecasts, and long-term planning objectives.
- Travel and Representation: Travel to customers and sales representatives' locations, as well as support domestic trade shows as needed.
- Additional Duties: Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing sales position with technical aptitude.
- Skills: Excellent project management skills, detail-oriented, and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Availability: Availability for non-standard or extended work schedules.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong technical aptitude, ability to learn quickly, and apply knowledge to new applications and customer requirements.
- OTTO Products Knowledge: Relevant experience and knowledge of electro-mechanical switch products (preferred).
- Project Management Experience: Background in project management experience essential.
- Self-Motivation: Self-motivation and ability to complete projects with strict guidelines.
- Fast-Paced Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be proficient in multi-tasking.
- Detailed-Oriented: Detailed-oriented and proven follow-up skills.
