OTTO Engineering, Inc. Opportunity:

Our Sales Application Engineer will perform a variety of Sales duties to ensure continuous development and growth for the North American Sales Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and initiate sales projects in North America to drive business growth and revenue expansion.
  • Provide technical support to the North American Sales Managers, Major Accounts Manager, OTTO independent manufacturer's representatives, and distributors to ensure assigned sales project objectives are achieved.
  • Build relationships with customers, representatives, and distributors through regular visits and communication to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and manage direct and indirect resources to achieve sales objectives.
  • Monitor major assigned opportunities and provide assistance to capture business along with the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Communicate and work with customers' engineers for design-in to support new projects and convey requirements to the Product team.
  • Develop, present, or respond to proposals for specific customer requirements, including request for proposal responses and industry-specific solutions.
  • Identify technical issues of assigned accounts to ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.
  • Work with the internal Engineering team for product development and understand the Phase Gate Process OTTO Utilizes.
  • Provide market feedback to management, including competitive position, new product opportunities, forecasts, and long-term planning objectives.
  • Travel to customers and sales representatives' locations and support domestic trade shows as needed.
  • Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required – mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a manufacturing sales position with technical aptitude.
  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Availability for non-standard or extended work schedules.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical aptitude, ability to learn quickly, and apply knowledge to new applications and customer requirements.
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of electro-mechanical switch products preferred.
  • Experience and familiarity of OTTO products and line of business a plus.
  • Background in project management experience essential.
  • Self-motivation and ability to complete projects with strict guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be proficient in multi-tasking.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Proven follow-up skills.
