Role Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Revenue Cycle/Facility, the Patient Admissions Coordinator is a key service professional responsible for managing and executing all aspects of the admissions process. This includes:
- Conducting admissions and pre-admissions, gathering financial and demographic information, obtaining necessary signatures, and preparing documentation for various types of admissions.
- Ensuring all records are accurately entered into the Meditech system and verifying compliance with departmental, local, regional, and regulatory standards.
- Delivering exceptional customer service to enhance patient satisfaction and retention throughout the revenue collection process.
- Explaining financial estimates and collecting co-pays or required payments as necessary.
- Verifying patient eligibility for insurance through online systems and collecting all relevant insurance information during service.
- Scanning essential documents into the Meditech system for Point of Contact (POC) Scanning.
- Affixing identification bracelets to patients in accordance with local policies.
- Providing current information regarding admissions and hospital procedures while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Coordinating patient information with various departments and external care coordinators to facilitate timely admissions.
- Obtaining necessary signatures on permits and consents, and distributing relevant materials to patients or their representatives.
- Monitoring the medical check-in system and ensuring the proper handling of documentation.
- Responding to incoming calls and assisting or transferring as needed.
- Staying updated with changing policies and procedures.
- Locating and filing patient orders and managing incoming faxes appropriately.
- Performing additional related duties as required.
The Patient Admissions Coordinator holds a fiduciary duty to the organization, which includes:

- Duty of Good Faith: Acting with a conscious regard for responsibilities as a fiduciary.

- Minimum requirement of 2 shifts per month and 1 holiday per year for PRN employees.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions is essential.
- Typing speed of 35 wpm is required.
- Preferred six months of clerical experience in a medical environment with patient interaction.
- Professional communication skills and teamwork are essential.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills are necessary.
- Familiarity with office terminology, practices, and procedures is important.
- Knowledge of patient registration or scheduling is beneficial.
- Proficiency in computer information systems and medical terminology is required.
- Ability to accurately enter data using a computer keyboard.
- Capability to interact with the public in a courteous manner and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts is required.
