Job Summary

As a Medical/Surgical Nurse, you will be part of a close-knit team that prides itself on its positive work culture and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality nursing care to patients from newborn to geriatric under the direction of the Medical/Surgical Manager.
  • Assure that patient/family needs are met and provide open communication within the unit, patients, families, physicians, and other units/departments.
  • Carry out patient care according to hospital policies and procedures, functioning within the limitations of the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Establish treatment priorities based on medical and nursing diagnosis, recognize patient problems/complications, and intervene appropriately.
  • Accountable for the safe administration of medications and assess patient need for discharge planning on admission.
  • Participate in the development of and adherence to written nursing care standards for the unit and plan and coordinate work flow to ensure completion of assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Assess patient/family physical and psychosocial needs, identify need for patient/family teaching, and actively involve patient/family in plan of care when appropriate.
  • Report significant changes in patient condition/response to treatment to supervisor/physician promptly and participate in hand off shift report.
Requirements
  • Must be currently licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Colorado.
  • One year relevant experience preferred.
  • Specialty certification for specialty areas preferred.
  • BLS required upon hire.
  • ACLS & PALS required upon hire or within 6 months.
