Civil Engineering Project Specialist

WSP USA is on the lookout for qualified candidates to fill a full-time Office Engineer role within our esteemed organization. This position is integral to the VTA's BART Silicon Valley Phase II Extension (BSVII) Project. Ideal candidates will possess rail transit project experience and familiarity with CADD systems. The selected individual will be stationed at the San Jose BSVII Project Office and will collaborate closely with the Program Management Engineering Management Team.
Your Responsibilities
- Serve as program management personnel embedded within the contractor's design-build team, acting as a liaison for specific design units.
- Supervise the creation of tunnel designs and work plans.
- Facilitate coordination with the contractor's teams and external stakeholders, including utility companies and local government entities.
- Integrate seamlessly into the contractor's Design Unit (DU) teams, coordinating directly with DU Managers.
- Maintain comprehensive awareness of all design development progress, focusing on requirements, interface challenges, external affairs, right-of-way implications, and environmental considerations.
- Coordinate between Construction Packages (CPs) and VTA stakeholders.
- Stay informed about design developments that may affect cost and scheduling.
- Report to CP2 management on issues within DUs requiring program-level attention.
- Facilitate collaboration between Design Units and other internal stakeholders.
- Manage responses to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Oversee and coordinate external design submittal reviews.
- Participate in VTA design submittal evaluations.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Proven experience in underground and station design.
- Experience in planning large-diameter tunneling projects in urban settings.
- Familiarity with projects involving various stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of team roles and responsibilities to effectively liaise between VTA and contractors, recognizing how design decisions impact broader contract packages.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Geotechnical Engineer (GE) certification is preferred.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $263,000 - $322,000. WSP USA provides this range in good faith based on the successful applicant's qualifications and internal equity considerations. The company reserves the right to adjust compensation based on various factors.
