Job Summary

Owen Health Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth I/DD Direct Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will work closely with young children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, providing individualized support and behavioral interventions in a home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with behavioral therapists to develop and implement behavioral therapy programs.
  • Provide behavioral interventions to children and adolescents in home and community settings.
  • Implement individualized service plans for each child, ensuring their unique needs are met.
  • Manage and work with youth with behavioral problems, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • Develop and initiate safety standards for youth at all times, prioritizing their well-being.
  • Monitor, record, and document observations of youth behavior, providing valuable insights for program improvement.
  • Modify daily activities to align with behavioral interventions, promoting positive outcomes.
  • Instruct youth on positive behavioral aspects, empowering them to make informed choices.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for youth, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Develop and initiate recreational activities for youth, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience teaching or working with children and/or adolescents.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families and professionals.
  • Knowledge of developmental and intellectual disabilities, with a commitment to providing person-centered support.
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
