Job Summary:

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Construction Inspector to join our team. As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings for on-site general contractors and owners on Transportation and Civil related projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and monitor the construction phases of work, ensuring quality control, constructability, and completeness.
  • Manage and document change orders, handle shop drawings, and perform field inspections as required.
  • Effectively communicate with contractors, engineers, and clients to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Perform basic calculations and evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria as necessary during the construction phase.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; additional education in construction management/civil engineering technology preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction type projects required; experience with a Geotechnical/Materials Testing firm a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of construction standards and design criteria within the civil construction field.
  • Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures with thorough documentation skills using spreadsheets.
  • Strong organizational and management skills for complex construction activities.
  • Willingness to travel to projects and stay out of town for several months at a time a plus.
