POSITION SUMMARY:
The Choral Music Educator is responsible for fostering a comprehensive music education program that aligns with the educational standards set forth by the State Department of Education and the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education. This role requires a commitment to developing students' musical abilities while promoting a positive learning environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate in the design and execution of the district's music education curriculum.
- Develop and implement tailored instructional plans that cater to the diverse needs, interests, and capabilities of students.
- Facilitate the learning process to achieve established curriculum objectives, ensuring clarity in lesson goals and expectations.
- Utilize appropriate teaching methodologies and resources to effectively meet educational objectives.
- Maintain a disciplined and respectful classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Design individualized learning programs and refer students to specialized support when necessary.
- Conduct assessments of student achievements and prepare progress reports as required.
- Administer standardized assessments in accordance with district protocols.
- Maintain open communication with students and their families regarding academic and behavioral development.
- Create a nurturing classroom environment that aligns with students' maturity levels and interests.
- Deliver instruction at designated times and locations as assigned.
- Select and manage instructional materials and resources effectively.
- Provide guidance and resources for substitute educators and oversee classroom aides and volunteers.
- Work collaboratively with staff and support personnel to address student health, behavioral, and learning challenges.
