Position Overview:

The Lead Consultant for the Cybersecurity Management Office will play a pivotal role in enhancing our Information Security posture. At Capital One, you will engage in consulting initiatives, programs, and projects aimed at elevating our standards in Information Security. Your practical understanding of risk and security will be complemented by your ability to identify when expert intervention is necessary. You will collaborate and innovate with various teams within Capital One to drive progress. Familiarity with Cloud Service technologies such as Storage Services, Security & Access Control Management, Container Services, and API Implementation is essential. A comprehensive understanding of different Cloud computing models, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, is also required.

Key Responsibilities:

The Lead Consultant will provide advisory support in cybersecurity architecture to establish the necessary Technology & Business capabilities on a modern platform. This platform will facilitate customer setup, usage, and management of Capital One Credit Card services, including Data Products. Responsibilities include:
  • Acting as the primary Information Security contact for the Commercial line of business.
  • Coordinating and executing proactive Information Security consulting for business and technology teams, covering Infrastructure Security, Resiliency, Data Security, Network Architecture, and User Access Management.
  • Serving as an authority on Capital One's Information Security capabilities, solutions, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Collaborating with enterprise cybersecurity teams and technology architects to define and drive the cybersecurity architecture strategy.
  • Supporting security architecture and implementation for technology modernization initiatives.
  • Overseeing all cybersecurity-related dependencies across multiple components involved in modernization efforts.
  • Encouraging customers to utilize security capabilities and solutions to integrate security early in development processes.
  • Managing and escalating cybersecurity risks.
  • Providing ad hoc support on urgent Information Security topics for the business.
  • Delivering regular updates to executive leadership regarding the overall Information Security health and risk landscape.
  • Working with business leadership to anticipate objectives and needs to enhance service delivery.
  • Assisting the team in mapping technologies to a standardized framework to identify and implement best practices in risk reduction through cybersecurity tools and platforms.
  • Supporting the development and use of capability, risk, or threat classification frameworks to facilitate evaluations of capability, maturity, and effectiveness.
  • Aiding in data validation and communication regarding operational, compliance, process, control, and tooling gaps and potential remediation strategies to various audiences, including leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in cybersecurity or information technology.
  • At least 7 years of experience providing guidance and oversight in cybersecurity concepts.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience conducting cybersecurity risk assessments or security architecture reviews.
  • At least 4 years of experience in cloud security.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 6+ years of experience securing a public cloud environment (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
