About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Security Engineer to join our team at Motion Recruitment. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for driving the development and execution of our application security strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Application Security Strategy: Translate high-level objectives into actionable plans and lead the team to achieve these goals.
  • Develop Technical Documentation: Create system design, architecture diagrams, data flows, and functional specifications.
  • Contribute to Cybersecurity Initiatives: Conduct technical assessments to define the future state of cybersecurity within the organization.
  • Develop Program Metrics: Continuously measure progress and impact, and drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with Senior leadership, DevOps, development teams, security operations, data and analytics, enterprise architecture, Platform team, and sector functions.
  • Implement Automated Security Tools: Ensure seamless integration and operation to enhance security posture.
  • Integrate Centralized Findings Management System: Efficiently manage and track security vulnerabilities and remediation efforts.
  • Define and Implement Security Strategy: Ensure automated security tools are configured to operate in an optimal fashion.
  • Develop and Maintain Automation Solutions: Create green field automation solutions and full stack applications to support and enhance application security.
  • Provide Expert Guidance: Triage and remediate security vulnerabilities, and assist and mentor team members and other engineering teams.
  • Foster a Collaborative Environment: Promote knowledge sharing, and mentor junior engineers to build a strong, skilled security team.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Continuously research and raise novel concepts to improve the application security posture of the business.
Requirements
  • 7+ years in software development: or master's degree in computer science/engineering or related cyber field, and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or senior role: within application security.
  • Programming Language Proficiency: Proficient in at least one programming language (Java, C#, Go) and scripting language (Python, bash, PowerShell).
  • Automated Security Scanning Experience: Experience with implementing automated application security scanners in a CI/CD pipeline or using various web app scanning tools (DAST/SAST/SCA/Container...).
  • Leadership Experience: Direct experience with leading, or at a minimum, mentoring junior engineers.
  • Database Management System Proficiency: Proficient in at least one database management system and query language (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Automated Security Tools Integration: Experience with integrating and managing automated security tools within CI/CD pipelines.
