The Financial Planning Division is an integral part of the larger Investor Services framework, dedicated to assisting individuals and families with their financial aspirations. Whether it involves retirement strategies, philanthropic contributions, estate organization, active investment management, or banking and lending solutions, Investor Services is here to support.

This division collaborates with branch associates to deliver all-encompassing financial planning services for clients and prospects seeking guidance on achieving diverse objectives. The financial plan encompasses a tailored analysis to meet client or prospective client ambitions, including: retirement, education funding, risk management, asset distribution, and estate planning considerations. After establishing realistic expectations with the client or prospect, the Schwab Financial Planner develops and presents a financial strategy that outlines the client's current status, opportunities, and gaps, along with recommendations for achieving financial objectives.

The Financial Planner plays a crucial role in enhancing the relationship between Schwab and clients requiring advice on intricate financial matters. The financial planning process involves nurturing referral connections with internal partners, supporting client relationships based on individual needs, and engaging directly with clients to evaluate and advise on complex financial planning subjects. Candidates should possess a robust background in client and practice management, exceptional presentation and communication skills, and expertise in financial planning.

Key Responsibilities include: collaborating with designated internal Schwab departments (primarily the Branch and Schwab Wealth Advisory Investment Advisors) to foster a referral network. Engage directly with clients to deliver detailed and customized financial strategies. Participate in ongoing professional development and training to continually enhance skills as an advisor. Join collaborative sales discussions regarding Schwab's financial planning offerings.

What You Have
  • CFP designation is mandatory
  • Active and valid FINRA Series 7 license is required (may be obtained within the first 120 days as a condition of employment)
  • Active and valid FINRA Series 63/65 or 66 license is required (may be obtained within 120 days as a condition of employment)
  • A minimum of 3+ years' experience in creating and presenting intricate and comprehensive financial plans
  • In-depth knowledge and proven sales abilities to successfully market financial planning services
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks and financial plans to ensure timely delivery of accurate final plans to each client/prospect.
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in guiding clients through the complete and complex financial planning cycle
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners to address clients/prospects financial needs and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics to clients effectively.
  • Strong client service skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
