Job Summary:

The Site Lead Operator will be responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of the Sterling Natural Resource Recovery Center (SNRC) anaerobically digestible material (ADM) receiving area.

This role will oversee the receipt of high-strength organic waste in 5,000-gallon tankers, offloading to buffer tanks using an onsite pumping system, and co-digesting with municipal sludge to produce biogas.

The biogas will be treated and upgraded to renewable natural gas (RNG) and injected into the utility pipeline.

The Site Lead Operator will report to the Director of Plant Operations and be based out of the Sterling Natural Resource Recovery Center located in San Bernardino, CA, with occasional travel to support projects in Anaergia's Western region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain world-class customer service, safety, and environmental standards for customers and Anaergia.
  • Drive a strong culture of operational and maintenance excellence.
  • Support the Director of Plant Operations to meet financial, strategic, operational, and performance goals for Anaergia.
  • Develop and deploy efficient maintenance and production practices using operational excellence, quality improvement, best practice implementation, and supply chain development.
  • Monitor and analyze daily unit production to determine improvements needed.
  • Interface with other technology resources to resolve problems beyond the scope of the Operating Engineering position.
  • Conduct formal Root Cause Analysis of events affecting plant production.
  • Assist in training operators to maximize safety, quality, and productivity of the process.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and training criteria for new and modified equipment.
  • Coordinate efforts with engineering to design and install new equipment.
  • Generate various production reports for management and other company divisions.
  • Provide input into raw material inventory management.
  • Design and perform unit process experiments to optimize operations.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate with ten years of relevant experience as a maintenance technician servicing and maintaining industrial plant process equipment.
  • Skilled in understanding customer support, mechanical equipment repairs, scheduling, technical drawings, documents, specifications, and use of CMMS.
  • Ability to service and maintain equipment such as industrial engines, conveyors, pumps, hydraulic controls, regulators, valves, piping systems, chemical feed systems, screw feeders, compressors, electrical equipment, instrumentation, and similar equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering specifications to maintain and fix equipment.
  • Ability to utilize, implement, and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for inventory control and maintenance.
  • Must successfully pass all training requirements, including safety certifications and ability to wear a respirator and SCBA.
  • Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Highly motivated and engaged to achieve goals, including safety, environmental, financial, and operational.
