At the Transportation Security Administration, you will play a crucial role in a high-stakes environment dedicated to safeguarding the American way of life.
  • Your efforts will focus on securing various transportation modes including airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and public transit systems, thereby protecting the nation’s transportation infrastructure and ensuring the freedom of movement for individuals and commerce.

Key Responsibilities
This IT Specialist (ENTARCH) position is situated within the Enterprise Support (ES) of the Information Technology (IT) sector, specifically in the Enterprise Architecture Division (EAD), Applied Architecture (AAB).


Core Duties Include:
  • Utilizing your technical expertise to apply and advocate for architectural principles.
  • Evaluating technological capabilities and constraints, formulating strategic directions, and identifying potential risks along with mitigation strategies.
  • Contributing to the formulation of policies and guiding principles that influence technology decisions across the enterprise architecture.
  • Providing technical counsel to the TSA Chief Architect and EAD management on matters related to Enterprise Architecture (EA) principles, policies, methodologies, and practices, while fostering innovative approaches.
  • Acting as a key contributor on solution, segment, or strategic architecture teams, offering insights on application and cloud architecture.
  • Conducting architectural assessments of plans, designs, and implementations of enterprise-wide information systems.
  • Delivering architectural and engineering guidance to systems development teams.
  • Initiating and conducting IT studies to address unexplored challenges across engineering and information system disciplines.
  • Identifying opportunities for enhancing enterprise applications to better support mission and business processes while leveraging emerging technologies.
  • Assisting the Branch Chief with architectural analysis, policy development, compliance assessments, and the establishment of architectural standards.
  • Producing architectural deliverables such as conceptual, solution, and segment architectures.
  • Applying best practices, standards, and patterns in systems architecture.
  • Identifying gaps between current and target architectures and developing transition plans.
  • Contributing to the enterprise architecture plan, including strategic drivers, current and target architectures, sequencing plans, architectural segments, reference models, and standards.

Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National, have reached the minimum age of 18, and complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI). Additionally, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Qualifications
All IT positions require candidates to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Customer Service: Ability to work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
  • Oral Communication: Effectively expressing information to individuals or groups, considering the audience and nature of the information.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying problems and using sound judgment to evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

For the SV-I Pay Band (equivalent to GS-13), candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-H or GS-12 Pay Band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.

Specialized Experience Includes:
Experience in aligning enterprise application architecture and cloud technologies, understanding enterprise cybersecurity standards, and applying enterprise architecture theories and methodologies relevant to organizational missions and goals.
