Overview
At the Transportation Security Administration, you will play a pivotal role in a critical environment dedicated to preserving the American way of life.
  • Your mission will encompass securing various transportation infrastructures including airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and public transit systems.

Key Responsibilities
This IT Consultant position is situated within the Information Technology (IT)/Applications Development Division (ADD)/Administration & Customer Relationship Branch of the Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS).


Primary Duties Include:
- Providing management with insights on the operational effectiveness and efficiency of designated programs.
- Offering recommendations to address identified concerns; overseeing the implementation of solutions and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Advising on complex operational challenges and proposing strategic initiatives.
- Leading a team to execute responsibilities related to contract oversight, including monitoring contract performance and reporting on its status.
- Utilizing advanced analytical techniques to assess the effectiveness and viability of organizational programs.
- Adapting analytical methods to tackle specific challenges and innovating new solutions for complex productivity issues.

As a subject matter expert, you will engage in discussions, meetings, and conferences with administrative and technical personnel, as well as other experts and agency officials.

Interactions will focus on:
- Educating and advising stakeholders;
- Sharing critical information;
- Investigating facts and presenting conclusions;
- Collaborating to resolve issues.

Requirements
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- COR level III certification or ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-I Pay Band (equivalent to GS-13), candidates must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-H or GS-12 Pay Band in the Federal service or comparable experience in the private sector.

Specialized experience includes:

  • Applying IT customer support principles to meet end-user needs for a comprehensive range of office automation equipment and services;
  • Implementing IT security practices and cybersecurity principles to safeguard the enterprise-wide IT infrastructure;
  • Utilizing project management principles to plan and execute complex IT projects.

For the SV-J Pay Band (equivalent to GS-14), candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-I or GS-13 Pay Band in the Federal service or similar experience in the private sector.

Specialized experience for this level includes:

  • Strategizing and implementing customer IT requirements and services on a national scale;
  • Developing and executing IT security/cybersecurity strategies to enhance infrastructure security;
  • Employing project management methodologies to oversee complex IT projects.

Additional Information
Eligibility to apply for other Federal positions is available, as TSA is an Excepted Service agency exempt from most Title 5 United States Code regulations.
