Position Overview

The Field Operations Manager oversees all aspects of field labor, materials, financial performance, project execution, and safety protocols, while collaborating with the Services business unit to manage field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

The specific duties of the Field Operations Manager include:
  • Achieving or surpassing all financial targets, budgets, and objectives, while monitoring pricing and analyzing cost data in conjunction with the Business Unit Manager.
  • Overseeing and maintaining the financial health of the business unit, addressing discrepancies between estimates and actual costs.
  • Fostering and maintaining strong customer relationships to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Managing dispatch operations and ensuring effective communication with field staff.
  • Supervising all field personnel within the business unit, including the development of service teams and defining roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinating with the Business Unit Manager on hiring and termination processes, conducting performance evaluations, recommending salary adjustments, resolving personnel issues, and nurturing talent within the business unit.
  • Driving improvements in technician productivity in collaboration with Field Supervisors to ensure work quality meets company standards and project specifications.
  • Estimating service repair and replacement projects.
  • Promoting and ensuring adherence to all Safety and Risk Management protocols, including oversight of necessary documentation such as Notices to Proceed, Signed Contracts, Contract Change Orders, Certificates of Insurance, and Bonds.
  • Assisting Field Supervisors in maintaining quality control on service projects.
  • Ensuring high levels of employee morale and retention.
  • Managing inventory and tool procurement for all service vehicles.
  • Implementing ongoing education programs for service field personnel.
  • Conducting orientation sessions for new hires in the Services department.
  • Facilitating project kick-off meetings to coordinate smaller jobs with management.
  • Coordinating subcontractors and vendors related to service projects.
  • Contributing to the development of software and technology tools for estimation and field operations.
  • Participating in staff meetings with the Business Unit Manager to address management issues, training, safety, and productivity enhancements.
This is a Full-Time, Exempt position reporting to the Business Unit Manager.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the service industry.
  • NFPA 70 certification.
  • Highly organized and self-driven, with the capability to lead a team of technicians.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple ongoing projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledgeable about the industry and the competitive landscape.
  • Able to multitask and perform additional duties as required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related field.
Travel Requirements:
  • Approximately 20% of time will be spent traveling to job sites or office locations.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
