Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a Unified Communications Engineer in the Northern Virginia region. This role is integral to a dedicated maintenance team tasked with the installation, configuration, optimization, and testing of network, video, and telephony services utilized within a government framework.

Key Responsibilities

The Unified Communications Engineer will undertake the following responsibilities:
  • Provide Tier II support for customer-reported incidents related to network conference room video systems, desktop video systems, video conferencing systems, video gateways, and control systems.
  • Deliver end-user support, encompassing in-room and external network assistance, troubleshooting, scheduling, and administering video teleconferences.
  • Conduct testing and configuration of existing video teleconferencing hardware, ensuring the application of security controls and specialized configuration testing for various platforms.
  • Perform patch and firmware upgrades on video teleconferencing devices, alongside break/fix support and daily operational management, including onsite assistance for special events.
  • Evaluate and test video infrastructure equipment, including multi-controller units, meeting systems, video content servers, and control systems.
  • Assess video endpoint devices and their associated peripherals.
  • Document and report all testing activities comprehensively.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions for end users on various endpoint devices.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with eight (8) years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience; a Master's degree with six (6) years of experience, or a PhD with three (3) years of experience may also be considered.
  • Current 8570 compliant certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with VOIP protocols (SIP, H.323), Unified Communications implementation, and gateway solutions.
  • At least three (3) years of experience supporting a Cisco CUCM environment for video collaboration.
  • At least three (3) years of experience managing Cisco Telepresence, Video Communications, and Meeting Server.
  • Two (2) years of experience interacting with high-profile executives regarding video conferencing support.
  • Two (2) years of experience with encoding and decoding streaming technology.
  • Two (2) years of troubleshooting and repairing VTC equipment (voice, video, and conference room control equipment).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of experience supporting a Cisco CUCM environment for video collaboration.
  • Five (5) years of experience managing Cisco Telepresence, Video Communications, and Meeting Server.
  • Technical certification in Cisco Voice and Video Engineering.
  • Experience with Cisco Telepresence Management System, Video Control Server, Cisco Meeting Server, and WebEx Pro systems.
  • Familiarity with the ITIL framework for incident and change management.
  • Experience using a maintenance ticketing system for incident and problem management.
  • Knowledge of monitoring systems such as Solarwinds, Splunk, and Variphy.
  • Previous experience supporting government and/or Department of Defense clients.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is estimated between $135,000 and $216,000, reflecting the typical compensation based on experience and other factors.
