This role includes educating patients, families, and healthcare personnel on wound care, prevention of pressure injuries, selection of support surfaces, dressing options, and various therapeutic interventions. The specialist serves as a key resource for medical practitioners and clinical teams, contributing to quality improvement efforts within the department and the broader organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments, re-evaluations, and management of patients with wounds in accordance with established protocols.
  • Applies contemporary wound management principles while caring for individuals with both acute and chronic wounds.
  • Engages in the training of clinical staff on skin protection, wound care, prevention strategies, treatment options, and interventions.
  • Exhibits proficiency in managing patients with exuding wounds, prevention strategies, wound care, ostomy management, and incontinence issues.
  • Adjusts care plans based on patient responses to treatment and evaluates the overall effectiveness of the care strategy.
  • Employs suitable pain management techniques and educates patients and families on pain control methods.
  • Facilitates patient and family education as necessary.
  • Records charges accurately and ensures timely documentation in the electronic health record to maintain compliance.
  • Implements physician directives as per the care plan and documents actions appropriately.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide a multidisciplinary approach to meet patient needs.
  • Acts as a liaison among physicians, patients, and suppliers of clinical products.
  • Supervises assigned staff (LPN & CNA) in delivering patient care.
  • Works alongside the Clinical Program Director to ensure adherence to nursing standards and practices.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse License in Wyoming or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC) upon commencement.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Completion of required training within a specified timeframe after starting.
  • Completion of specialized training in hyperbaric medicine within a designated period after hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing institution.
