Position Overview

As a vital member of our team, you will deliver exceptional service to our guests, ensuring a delightful and memorable experience at Houlihan's Restaurant and Bar. Your role is essential in maintaining our high standards of hospitality and beverage service.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Engagement

  • Arrive at work in a neat and professional appearance, adhering to uniform standards and personal hygiene practices.
  • Greet guests warmly upon their arrival, providing a personalized welcome.
  • Utilize your extensive knowledge of the menu to suggest items, respond to inquiries, and anticipate guest needs.
  • Ensure responsible service of alcoholic beverages by verifying guest ages.
  • Take and fulfill drink and food orders promptly.
  • Serve high-quality food and beverages, ensuring accuracy and appealing presentation.
  • Address any additional requests or needs from guests efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including pre-bussing and replacing items as necessary.
  • Foster relationships with regular patrons by remembering their names and preferences.
  • Provide unobtrusive service, ensuring guests feel attended to without being overwhelmed.
  • Answer phone calls and manage takeout orders effectively.
  • Keep your workstations and pantry clean and organized.
  • Engage in side work during slower periods, including restocking and cleaning tasks.
  • Execute service cycles and collaborate with team members to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
  • Implement service recovery strategies to resolve any guest dissatisfaction, involving management when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with management and colleagues regarding any service or equipment issues.
Beverage Preparation
  • Craft and serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and standards.
Order Processing
  • Accurately enter drink and food orders into the POS system, following company protocols.
  • Prepare, present, and process payments for guest checks in a timely manner.
  • Identify and rectify any operational issues to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain accountability for cash handling and ensure accurate bank balances.
Team Support
  • Keep the bar area and common restaurant spaces clean and well-stocked.
  • Prepare garnishes and mixers for beverages.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of glassware and bar equipment.
  • Request necessary supplies from the bar manager as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours.
  • Visual acuity to see at various distances and identify potential hazards.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Physical flexibility to navigate the workspace.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions.
  • Manual dexterity for operating equipment and preparing food.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry trays of food and beverages.
Supervision

Reports to the Bar Manager or Manager on Duty for guidance and training regarding specific tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of bar operations and customer service skills will be developed through in-house training. Previous experience is not required.
