Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Registration Associate to join our team at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. As a key member of our patient access team, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless patient registration and billing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interviews and Registers Patients: Conduct thorough interviews with patients and families to obtain accurate demographic and financial information, ensuring all necessary questionnaires and forms are completed.
  • Data Entry and Billing: Enter data into our system for registration, billing, patient tracking, charge capture, and reconciliation, minimizing patient wait times.
  • Insurance Verification and Authorization: Confirm insurance coverage and obtain authorizations as needed, explaining regulatory financial requirements to patients or responsible parties.
  • Appeals and Claims Denials: Assist the Appeals department in providing information to overturn claims denials.
  • Communication and Liaison: Serve as a liaison between patients and department staff, informing patients and families of procedures and delays, answering questions, and offering assistance.
  • Medical Record Maintenance: Initiate and execute daily medical record maintenance, maintaining patient confidentiality, and creating patient charts.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support, including scheduling patient appointments, coordinating procedures, and participating in department meetings.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: One year of experience in registration or a related clinical discipline, or completion of an approved externship program.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to multitask, and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College Degree: A college degree is preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR) or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) is preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to type 45 words per minute, and successful completion of the Basic Windows Skill Assessment.
