JOB SUMMARY
The Cardiac Catheterization Specialist is responsible for conducting diagnostic invasive procedures within the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This role involves scrubbing in and assisting the Cardiologist as needed, responding to patient distress situations, and managing equipment quality control and inventory.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience in Special Procedures and/or Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Registered Radiologic Technologist (R) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network. ACLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of cardiac patient monitoring principles and procedures; proficiency in basic computer functions; understanding of radiation safety equipment and quality control.

READING - Intermediate:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

WRITING - Intermediate:
Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.

SPEAKING - Intermediate:
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations, or before groups of clients and colleagues.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Intermediate skills in basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Skilled in assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development, providing appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift, move, or transfer patients, records, or equipment; capable of wearing lead protective devices for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for prolonged durations.

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:
Up to 10 pounds - Continuously; Up to 25 pounds - Continuously; Up to 35 pounds - Frequently; Up to 50 pounds - Occasionally.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical noise level is moderate, similar to a business office with computers and printers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Continuous exposure to electrical and radiant energy hazards.
