Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse, operating under the medical supervision of clinic physicians and the administrative oversight of the Clinic Manager, delivers expert nursing care to individuals at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility. This role involves coordinating patient care alongside healthcare team members, educating patients about their care plans, processing medication refill requests, managing the flow of care, and contributing to ongoing quality improvement initiatives. Additionally, the nurse supervises the clinical responsibilities of Health Technician staff and collaborates with the Clinic Manager and medical personnel in the development, execution, and assessment of practice standards, policies, and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Experience:

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Must possess a valid Registered Nursing license in Minnesota.
Within ninety (90) days of employment, BLS Certification is required, with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from an accredited organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Possesses current knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, including the scope of practice.
Familiarity with medical clinic operations, Universal Precautions, accepted safety protocols, medical record documentation, medication administration principles, and customer service standards is essential.
Proficient in conducting accurate nursing assessments and formulating appropriate interventions. Capable of balancing competing priorities and delegating tasks effectively while managing multiple issues concurrently.Ability to assess and manage treatment plans, accurately prepare and administer medications, evaluate patient progress, and perform phlebotomy.
Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of hospital and clinic staff to address patient healthcare needs.
Exhibits strong organizational and prioritization skills, problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to make independent decisions within the scope of nursing practice.
Anticipates the needs of the practice and accepts personal accountability. Communicates effectively with all stakeholders involved in healthcare delivery, maintains composure in stressful situations, and presents a professional demeanor. Upholds patient confidentiality and demonstrates proficiency in using telecommunication and basic computer systems.
Ability to write clearly, and communicate verbally in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and bending. Assists in lifting and moving patients, supplies, and equipment.
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds and work shifts that may exceed eight (8) hours.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typical noise levels are moderate, similar to a business office setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS
May encounter hazards associated with electrical, mechanical office equipment, and minor medical tools. Potential exposure to unpleasant patient conditions and risks associated with blood-borne pathogens.
