Job Summary

**Job Title:** Financial Analyst I

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst I to join our team at California Credit Union. As a Financial Analyst I, you will play a critical role in providing accounting support to our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Financial Statement Preparation:** Assist in the preparation of financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system, core system, and departments.
  • **General Ledger Reconciliations:** Reconcile various general ledger and external accounts daily and prepare necessary clearing general ledger entries.
  • **Accounting and Financial Research:** Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • **GL Reconciliation and Verification:** Reconcile work by analyzing, researching, and verifying GL information and comparing system reports to balances.
  • **Monthly Reconciliations:** Complete monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • **Participation in Reconciliation Processes:** Participate in the monthly reconciliation processes.
  • **Month-End Close Process:** Assist in the month-end close process.
  • **Daily A/P Review Process:** May assist with oversight of the daily A/P review process.
  • **Corporate Card Process:** May assist with oversight of the monthly corporate card process.
  • **1099-Misc Process:** May assist with oversight of the annual 1099-Misc process.
  • **Regulatory Reporting:** Handle weekly regulatory reporting, by balancing, reviewing, analyzing, and transmitting Reg. D/FR2900 report to the Federal Reserve Bank.
  • **Backup Withholding:** Reports backup withholding to the IRS and California EDD (Employment Development Department).
  • **Quarterly Backup Withholding:** Processes quarterly backup withholding and filing to California EDD.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • **Backup Support:** Provides backup to co-workers in the department to cover out of office situations.
  • **Special Projects:** Works on special projects as assigned.
  • **Accounting Procedures:** Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommends changes.
  • **Job Knowledge:** Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • **Process Improvements:** Implements continuous process improvements that streamline processes and increase accuracies.
  • **BSA Requirements:** Complies with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.
Requirements and Qualifications

**Abilities:** Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Great analysis and problem-solving skills in addition to being able to multi-task several duties. Self-starter with great organizational skills. Excellent PC and computer skills to be able to operate applicable software, applications, and programs, including Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent.

**Knowledge, Education, Certifications, Licenses:** Intermediate knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word. Working knowledge of general ledger reconciliations and research; journal entries; accounting rules, regulations, policies, procedures that is reflective of the financial services industry; and, various operating systems, including Prologue, OSI, Optima, and automated accounting systems or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a similar field is preferred.

**Experience:** Staff Accountant I - Requires a minimum of three to four years of experience at the level of a Staff Accountant or equivalent to include education and/or certifications, to gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to handle all aspects of the position. Preferred experience in the credit union or banking industry.
