Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Heavy Duty Truck Specialist to join our team at R-2 Contractors.

The ideal candidate will have experience in performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and equipment. The successful candidate will be able to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues, as well as complete tasks given by the Shop Manager in a timely fashion.

A key aspect of this role is maintaining a clean and organized work area, including the shop and yard. This includes cleaning tools, inventorying spare parts, and ensuring all equipment is in good working order.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment
  • Inspection, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of mechanical issues
  • Completing tasks given by the Shop Manager in a timely fashion
  • Maintaining a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks
  • Cleaning and organizing the shop and yard area

Qualifications for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Heavy Duty Truck Specialist role include:

  • Physical requirements: Lifting up to 100 pounds as needed, climbing, twisting, bending, standing for long periods of time
  • Minimum 3 years heavy equipment/heavy truck experience
  • Experience in safely using hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices
  • Forklift Certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record (preferred) or ability to work with the company to obtain one
  • DOT medical card required and ability to maintain
  • Mechanical experience required

This is a full-time position with an estimated salary of $32-$40 per hour, paid 50+ hours per week with opportunities for overtime. Benefits include:
