Highway Maintenance Technician

Crook County is seeking a highly skilled Highway Maintenance Technician - Equipment Operator to join their team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, utilizing your skills and experience to maintain and improve the county's road network.
About the Role:
We are looking for a talented individual who can operate a variety of heavy equipment, including dump trucks, lowboy trucks, and backhoes. As a Highway Maintenance Technician - Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for performing manual labor assignments, conducting inspections, and responding to emergencies as directed by the Road Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment, including dump trucks, lowboy trucks, and backhoes
- Perform manual labor assignments, such as cleaning ditches, installing culverts, and cutting brush
- Conduct inspections of roads, guardrails, bridge structures, culverts, signs, and other attributes within County Rights of Way
- Respond to emergencies, provide traffic control, and perform tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection
- Maintain a clean work environment, follow all safety policies and procedures, and perform daily equipment inspections according to County Standards
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' experience with truck driving and equipment operation
- Valid Class A CDL for the State of Oregon
- Valid ICC Medical Card
- Oregon Traffic Control Certification
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, stoop, kneel, and bend
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
