Position Overview
This opportunity is with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The selected individual may be placed in a role within the same job family at a lower level based on interview outcomes, which will assess the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

This role reports to the Manager of Commercial and Industrial Programs and is classified as Mobile, primarily working from home while visiting facilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities
The C&I Program Engineer will oversee the implementation, operations, and support of Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency programs across FirstEnergy's operating companies to fulfill regulatory obligations. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the implementation of C&I Energy Efficiency programs to meet energy and peak demand reduction targets across various Electrical Distribution Companies (EDC) in multiple states.
  • Engaging with customers to clarify program eligibility, energy efficiency technologies, and application processes.
  • Delivering presentations on Energy Efficiency Programs for educational and training purposes.
  • Collaborating on cross-functional teams to develop C&I energy efficiency plans and manage vendor selection processes.
  • Ensuring accurate reporting of program performance and compliance with budgetary and energy efficiency targets.
  • Monitoring program performance in partnership with implementation vendors to achieve contractual goals.
  • Assisting in the development of energy-saving protocols and conducting research on energy efficiency technologies.
  • Creating tools for managing large datasets and performing data analyses to identify issues and enhance program implementation.
  • Documenting processes and protocols for program implementation.
  • Participating in educational and outreach events to promote energy efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of engineering experience, preferably in application engineering support or energy-related technical roles. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Knowledge of energy efficiency programs, customer electricity usage patterns, and regulatory policies.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • A proactive approach to learning and improving processes.
