Job Summary:

The Project Engineer will provide technical engineering information to project supervision and crafts to ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. This role will assist the Project Manager and Management Team in managing all aspects of a construction project, including financial administration and cost reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review contract and specifications in their entirety to ensure compliance with engineering standards and codes.
  • Assist Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer as required to ensure project success.
  • Assist with all schedule preparations and updates to ensure timely project completion.
  • Assist with quantity reporting, project costs, and forecasting to ensure accurate financial management.
  • Obtain pricing from subcontractors and vendors to include charge orders and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Requisition equipment and material deliveries as required to ensure project progress.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to resolve project challenges and conflicts.
  • Assist with monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing to ensure accurate financial management.
  • Manage document control to include submittal schedules, contract documents, project record drawings, and other relevant project documents.
  • Review Heavy Job daily reports for accuracy to ensure project progress.
  • Comply with notice requirements such as inspections, survey staking, joint measurements with owner and/or engineer, utility locations and adjustments, testing, claims, and other relevant project requirements.
  • Based on quantity takeoffs, manage the ordering of materials needed to successfully execute the project.
  • Issue correspondence to subcontractors and vendors when revised plan and/or specifications affect products or services.
  • Assist with project closeout to ensure all project requirements are met.
  • Perform additional assignments per the Project Manager's direction to ensure project success.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM).
  • Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheet analysis and broad technical skills.
  • Thorough understanding of cost analysis and estimating with HCSS products or similar.
  • Thorough knowledge of CPM scheduling and extensive experience with Primavera products.
  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with bridge construction experience preferred.
