Position Summary:

As a member of the Food Safety Division at GeorgiaGov, you will play a crucial role in the Retail Food Program. Your responsibilities will include performing inspections at various food service locations to ensure compliance with state regulations and laws.

  • Conduct thorough inspections and investigations at food service locations to verify adherence to health and sanitation standards.
  • Collect samples for laboratory testing and confirm compliance with established regulations.
  • Participate in training sessions to remain informed about current policies and regulations.
  • Evaluate equipment, packaging, labeling, and overall cleanliness of facilities.
  • Address food safety concerns during emergencies such as fires or natural disasters.
  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders and governmental bodies.
  • Complete necessary documentation and maintain inspection equipment.

Essential Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in agronomy, animal science, biology, chemistry, or a related discipline, or certification as a registered sanitarian.

Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with additional experience in health inspections and familiarity with computer systems.

  • Frequent standing and walking
  • Ability to climb stairs and adapt to various environments
  • Travel may be necessary
