Job Overview

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Distribution Controller, this role entails executing essential accounting tasks for our truck equipment distribution sector. Key responsibilities include managing general ledger activities, elements of cost accounting, fixed asset management, coordinating month-end closing procedures, and generating periodic financial reports and analyses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the month-end closing activities across all locations.
  • Prepare both standard and unique journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts for the general ledger.
  • Assist in the creation of monthly financial statements for branches and consolidated reports, including the distribution of revenue, expenditure, and performance reports to branches and upper management as required.
  • Initiate monetary transfers to facilitate cash management tasks.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements.
  • Prepare monthly benefit accruals and billing documentation.
  • Assist in generating monthly allocation statements for branches.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Collaborate with store personnel to ensure timely acquisition of fixed asset information.
  • Support fiscal year-end closing processes.
  • Work with store staff as necessary to uphold the "Best Practices" strategy.
  • Provide backup assistance for the Shared Services Accounts Payable processing function.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Experience in accounting within a distribution or manufacturing context is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with multi-branch or departmental operations.
  • Experience with integrated business software.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to support a geographically diverse multi-unit organization.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to communicate verbally and function effectively in an office setting. Normal standing, walking, bending, and the capacity to lift up to 40 lbs. are also required.
