Job Summary:

The Patient Advocate will play a crucial role in connecting uninsured hospital patients to programs that cover their medical expenses. This position will serve as a liaison between patients, hospitals, and government agencies, ensuring seamless communication and efficient navigation of complex healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and county medical or disability assistance programs
• Complete and submit applications, ensuring timely and accurate documentation
• Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and concerns
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors to ensure comprehensive patient support
• Maintain accurate records and track patient accounts, ensuring timely follow-up and communication
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on changing healthcare regulations and programs

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

• Some college coursework or prior hospital experience
• Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team environment
