Position Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for operating imaging equipment to capture radiographic images of the human body for diagnostic evaluation, as instructed by the attending physician, adhering to established protocols. This role requires expertise in patient positioning and equipment setup to ensure optimal imaging results as per physician requests. The technologist must implement radiation safety measures following the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle, utilizing beam restriction devices and patient shielding techniques to protect both patients and staff.

In addition, the technologist will operate CT SCAN machinery to generate Computed Tomography images for diagnostic purposes, under the direction of the attending physician, in line with radiologist protocols. Responsibilities include administering contrast agents both intravenously and orally, while monitoring for potential reactions and side effects. Accurate documentation in patient records is essential to maintain quality care and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all departmental and operational policies.
  • Assist in the upkeep of imaging equipment, including routine cleaning and quality assurance procedures.
  • Educate patients on the benefits and risks associated with imaging procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, including contrast administration and IV placements.
  • Complete necessary documentation related to contrast administration and other pre-exam protocols.
  • Implement safety measures to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Stay informed about current Diagnostic Radiology and CT procedures.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of human anatomy and physiology relevant to imaging.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating all radiological equipment.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics when assisting patients and handling equipment.
  • Maintain awareness of personal limitations and seek assistance when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and report any departmental concerns.
  • Ensure safe transportation of patients within the facility.
  • Conduct moderate and waived testing in accordance with clinical laboratory policies.
  • Interpret results of tests and take appropriate actions based on findings.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations in clinical laboratory operations.
  • Perform quality control checks and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with patients and staff.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control regulations.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in radiologic imaging and CT.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and colleagues.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and state licensure.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
