Role Summary


The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for operating imaging equipment and producing high-quality radiographs in accordance with standards set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. This role involves assisting the radiologist or physician during interventional procedures.

The technologist must demonstrate a solid understanding of human anatomy, patient care, positioning, radiographic principles, radiation safety, and specialized techniques relevant to the interventional radiology setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images for patients of all ages.
  • Adhere to established protocols for interventional radiology.
  • Efficiently operate fluoroscopy and digital imaging equipment, troubleshooting any technical issues.
  • Anticipate and address the needs of the physician and nursing staff during procedures.
  • Ensure optimal quality studies for interpretation using digital technology.
  • Maintain a safe and effective working knowledge of interventional radiology equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology.
  • Graduation from an accredited radiology program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or equivalent.
  • Preferred: One year of experience as a Radiology Technologist.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with the Texas Medical Board.
  • Registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.
  • Post-primary certification in Cardiovascular-Intervention Technology is preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
