Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiology Technologist PRN to join our team at Heart Hospital of Austin. As a key member of our Imaging department, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to physicians and ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiological and interventional procedures in a timely manner, documenting required information and communicating with primary physicians and direct care staff.
  • Coordinate and assist the care of patients assigned in collaboration with other radiology technologists, physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Evaluate patient condition to adequately perform radiological and interventional exams.
  • Inform and explain procedures to be performed to patients and what is expected in terms of their cooperation.
  • Provide comprehensive direct patient care and ensure a safe and comforting environment.
  • Consult with other staff as necessary to meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Assure that necessary clinical equipment and supplies are available and safely utilized.
  • Perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner, according to established policy and procedure, and document required information.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with all equipment within the Interventional Suite procedure room, including but not limited to: Fluoro, Pan Table, Med Rad injector, Monitors, Control panels for digital acquisition and image transfer.
  • Demonstrate understanding of supplies used for specified procedures.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Renal, Neuro, Peripheral, and Vascular anatomy.
  • Perform the role of circulator during procedures, including: pulling supplies, altering technique as phase of exam requires, and operating the injector.
  • Troubleshoot simple equipment issues.
  • Respond to calls in departmental policy guidelines.
  • Communicate with Radiologists and other physicians to coordinate and facilitate interventional schedules and timely/optimal patient care.
  • Provide statistical reports within established timeframes.
  • Use resources in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Participate in developing other staff and affiliating students.
  • Maintain and develop own professional competencies.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Radiology or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.
  • Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certification with Texas Medical Board (TMB).
  • Current radiology registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)/Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
