Position Overview

Summary: Under the direct guidance of the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, the individual will assist in overseeing, instructing, and executing the strategies, objectives, and philosophy of the Baldwin Wallace lacrosse program. This role includes aiding the Head Coach in all facets of recruitment and preparation for athletic events, while also representing the university in a manner that aligns with the mission statements of both the institution and the athletic department. Additional responsibilities may be assigned within the athletic department based on the successful candidate's qualifications and expertise, potentially encompassing areas such as athletic administration, game management, fundraising, alumni relations, or strength and conditioning.

Key Responsibilities: The following outlines the essential functions of the position:

  • Assess and recruit student-athletes who align with the Baldwin Wallace profile by attending showcase events, tournaments, and high school competitions. Collaborate with the coaching staff to achieve recruitment goals and facilitate campus visits.
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, embodying professionalism, sportsmanship, and integrity.
  • Assist in the organization, preparation, and execution of effective training and practice sessions.
  • Provide guidance and support to student-athletes on various personal matters as needed.
  • Implement strategies that promote both short-term and long-term success.
  • Support student-athletes in their academic endeavors as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Assist in the coordination and administration of the overall lacrosse program.
  • Represent the athletic and lacrosse program positively to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment and provide mutual support among colleagues and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Prior collegiate playing or coaching experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with athletic recruitment methods and techniques.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and serve as a positive influence for student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow directions effectively.
  • Understanding of NCAA Division III, Ohio Athletic Conference, and Baldwin Wallace University regulations and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in using the lacrosse program video system.
  • Experience with recruiting database systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Willingness to travel and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • A strong commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and noise, as well as physical demands such as running and lifting objects weighing between 20-100 lbs.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • Must maintain CPR/AED certification.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain certification to operate university vans and complete necessary training programs.
