Job Title: Fire Protection Systems Support Technician at Commonwealth of Virginia

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Fire Protection Systems Support Technician. This role is integral to maintaining the safety and functionality of fire protection systems across various facilities.

The Fire Safety Division is tasked with ensuring the reliability and safety of fire prevention systems and equipment. As a Fire Protection Systems Support Technician, you will assist in delivering effective maintenance and service to state facilities. Your responsibilities will include supporting technicians in the inspection and upkeep of fire detection and suppression systems across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation and repair of fire safety devices and components under supervision.
  • Participate in fire detection and suppression system testing, monitor outcomes, and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Ensure the proper availability and utilization of safety and fire prevention equipment.
  • Work flexible hours as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Completion of a pre-employment health screening is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to assist in the evaluation and inspection of fire systems.
  • Proficient in documenting observations and making necessary recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills with facility occupants and regulatory authorities.
  • Familiarity with fire suppression and detection systems, including electrical and mechanical work practices.
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical trades along with basic computer proficiency.

Physical Demands: The position requires various physical activities, including but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks.
