Job Overview

Share Our Strength is seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of Accounting and Finance to lead our day-to-day accounting group and operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and enforcing effective internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure the protection of the organization's assets and the integrity and accuracy of financial reports and transactions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a non-profit environment. A CPA certification is required, and an MBA or Master's in finance/accounting is a plus. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across organizational and functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting, accounts payable, and corporate card functions, ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting regulations and best practices.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and periodically evaluate the need for internal resources vs. outsourced capacity.
  • Implement policies and standards to ensure complete, timely, and accurate entry of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and oversee the organization's GAAP financial statements and other regulatory reporting.
  • Serve as a finance subject matter expert and liaise with operations leads on cross-functional projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience with responsibility for accounting and financial management, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Significant experience working with external auditors and presenting to senior management.
  • Executes with the highest standards of quality and integrity.
