Job Summary

SSM Health is seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team in a long term care setting. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients, including bathing, ambulating, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Collect and document data for patient assessments and reassessments, and provide information to licensed nurses for analysis and validation.
  • Contribute to a safe and quality care environment by communicating effectively with team members and relaying important information.
  • Inform licensed nurses of any changes in patient condition, needs, or complaints, and provide education to patients and their significant others as needed.
  • Perform tasks such as taking vital signs, monitoring behavior and physical condition, and assisting with dressing changes, enemas, and other procedures.
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment, and utilize time and supplies economically and conscientiously.
  • Assist with delegated clerical duties, such as answering phones and preparing medical records.
  • Orient new patients and significant others to the nursing unit, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved nurse aide training program and passing grade on state of work location required exam.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Occasional driving.
