Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Instructor, Surgery, Otolaryngology Position

Job Summary:
The Clinical Instructor of Surgery and Otolaryngology will work with physicians and nurses in the practice to provide medical treatment plans for patients. The candidate is expected to become an active member in the patient care team in a busy otolaryngology practice with specialized care of patients with head and neck disease including cancer.
Responsibilities:
- Take patient history, perform a physical examination and make an assessment and diagnosis based on this information, as well as, initiate, review and revise treatment plans and record and present data in a manner meaningful to the supervising physician.
- Provide patient care services to the medical practice.
- Assist physician with interventional treatments, respond to incoming phone messages from patient and make call backs to patient reporting response to attending physician.
- Make referrals to other healthcare providers and/or consult the physician for further definitive therapy.
- Perform physical examinations; identifies health problems based on findings.
- Order and evaluate appropriate non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Instruct and counsel patients on health care, health maintenance, medical problems, treatment plans, nutrition or other related issues as appropriate.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing. Current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State. One (1) year post licensure nursing experience. Must have excellent communication skills.
- Physician Assistant: NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants. Must have excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a fast paced medical practice.
- Experience with EMR.
