The Stony Brook University Department of Surgery is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join our team as a Clinical Instructor. This is a non-tenure track position that will provide medical treatment plans for patients in a busy otolaryngology practice.
Responsibilities- Work with physicians and nurses to provide medical treatment plans for patients
- Provide patient care services to the medical practice
- Assist physician with interventional treatments and respond to incoming phone messages from patients
- Make referrals to other healthcare providers and/or consult the physician for further definitive therapy
- Perform physical examinations, identify health problems based on findings, and order and evaluate appropriate non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures
- Instruct and counsel patients on health care, health maintenance, medical problems, treatment plans, nutrition, or other related issues as appropriate
- Master's degree in Nursing (foreign equivalent or higher) for Nurse Practitioner
- NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant
- One year post-licensure nursing experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced medical practice
- Experience with EMR
