Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our Comprehensive Psychiatry Program at Stony Brook University Hospital. The ideal candidate will have experience in acute psychiatric settings and a strong background in de-escalation techniques.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will conduct psychiatric evaluations, provide psychopharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, and make level-of-care recommendations for patients presenting with psychiatric co-morbidity in the emergency department.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the emergency department, CPEP, adult inpatient, and consultation liaison physicians, as well as ED nurses, social workers, and counselors to provide comprehensive care.
Responsibilities will include:
- Conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments
- Providing psychopharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
- Making level-of-care recommendations
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Nurse Practitioner Certification in Psychiatry
- Valid New York State license as a Nurse Practitioner
- Acute hospital psychiatry experience
- 3 or more years of experience as a psychiatric NP
